Ashley Smith

Studio Founder

Pre Ballet, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop

Ashley founded Smash Dance Academy (previously knows as Orem Dance Theatre) in 2006. The purpose of this dance studio has been to provide an environment where aspiring dancers can recreationally learn dance technique. Ashley has successfully cultivated a place where students can passionately engage and build confidence in dance but can also have the flexibility to engage in other activities of life. Ashley started dancing in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 5. She was trained in ballet and tap through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). She completed both programs with High Honours and in 2005 received teacher training certificates for both programs.  Ashley also trained in jazz, theatre and modern styles during her childhood years. Ashley continued training in all of these styles during her college years at Brigham Young University. While there, she performed with their seasonal tap performing team and joined a Hip Hop group that performed around the state. Ashley has taught ballet, jazz, theatre and hip hop classes over the past decade. She has continued her teaching education the last 10 years through a variety of teacher programs around the country. She has trained with many well know choreographers such as Dorit Koppel, Finis Jhung, Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaels, and Robert Hoffman.
